The Benefits of Inpatient Residential Treatment for Recovery

During inpatient residential treatment, clients live in the facility 24/7 for the duration of care, which varies from person to person. This type of treatment provides several benefits for those early in recovery.

  • 24/7 Support. While staying on our campus, clients have 24-hour access to professional medical care and support services, which can prove critical for those in the early stages of recovery.
  • Monitoring and Separation. Residential treatment also provides a controlled environment that eliminates potential triggers for substance use, allowing individuals to focus solely on their recovery. With some physical and mental separation from past triggers, can can focus 100% of their attention on healing.

How Is Our Inpatient Residential Program Different from Other Rehab Programs We Offer in Portland, ME?

Inpatient residential treatment is often the first stop in the recovery journey following detox. Clients live in a controlled, nurturing, comfortable environment with access to around-the-clock care. Pine Tree Recovery Center provides a homestyle retreat combined with expert medical care that allows clients to be relaxed and comfortable during their drug and alcohol detox and beyond.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) is designed to provide support as clients transitions to independent living after a successful detox or residential program. Individuals live in their own homes or sober living environment while spending most of the day at the program, taking part in individual and group therapy sessions and activities designed to prepare them further for independent living.

Our PHP offers structure as well as time for individuals to devise their reintroduction to the larger world and coping strategies with the support of Pine Tree’s experienced professional staff. It can be customized to respond to unique strengths, needs, goals, and personal challenges.

Substance Use Detox Program

Most clients enter treatment with substances still in their bodies. Detoxification—allowing your body to cleanse itself of drugs and alcohol—is essential to drug and alcohol rehab treatment and occurs within the first few days of entering a program. This phase involves managing withdrawal symptoms and cravings associated with dependence while preventing further damage to physical health.

Detox protocols vary depending on the type of substance used and are carefully monitored by medical staff to ensure safety and comfort during this process.

In some cases, our physicians may prescribe medications to increase comfort during detox and inhibit cravings as part of ongoing treatment throughout rehabilitation and beyond. These medications can make it easier to stay away from some substances while focusing on recovery outside the facility.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) allow clients to work, attend school, engage in day-to-day life, and live at home or a sober living environment while participating in a treatment program.

Clients often take part in IOP after a higher level of care, such as medical detox, residential inpatient treatment, or PHP. In some cases, a PHP can also serve as a first step in the treatment process.

IOPs have been recognized as essential to long-term recovery. A recent review of literature indicates that IOPs are an important part of the continuum of care for alcohol and drug use disorders, and they can be “as effective as inpatient treatment for most individuals seeking care.2

Virtual Rehab & Treatment

For individuals who experience geographic or transportation barriers to treatment, a virtual program offers care and options similar to those provided by an in-person program. Through Pine Tree Recovery Center’s virtual care options, clients can integrate treatment into their daily routines without having to travel or spend time away from work or family.

Our virtual rehab and treatment program offers a fully immersive treatment experience that allows individuals to receive high-quality care on par with our in-person programs. Treatment includes medication management, individual and family support groups, psychiatric visits, drug testing, and innovative features like a breathalyzer connected to the client’s mobile phone and geofencing to mark high-risk locations.

Evidence-Based Therapies for Addiction & Co-Occurring Disorders

The phrase “co-occurring disorder” is used when a person has a mental health disorder as well as a substance use disorder (SUD). According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 7.7 million adults have co-occurring mental health and SUDs, with 37.9% of adults with SUDs also experiencing mental illnesses and 18.2% of adults with mental illness also having an SUD.3

These disorders can exacerbate one another, making it all the more essential to address them together. Common co-occurring mental health conditions include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. By simultaneously addressing both substance misuse and mental health disorders, individuals have the greatest chance of achieving long-term recovery.

FAQs

Does Pine Tree Recovery Center take my insurance?

We work with most major insurance providers and offer a free, no-obligation insurance benefit check. Our admissions team will speak with your insurer, get a detailed verification of your insurance benefits, and share those details with you. Unfortunately, Medicaid and Medicare do not cover our facility. However, we are in-network with Maine Community Health Options.

How do I get into the program?

Once you call our admissions team, one of our dedicated counselors will perform a pre-assessment over the phone that takes about 10 minutes and ensures Pine Tree Recovery Center is the best fit for your or your loved one’s needs. After the assessment, we verify insurance benefits and arrange a time for your intake. If you need a ride to the facility and live within a few hours of our locale, we will dispatch one of our drivers, and you will begin your recovery at our facility.

How long is the program?

Program lengths are individualized for each client. Generally, detox is 3-7 days, but time is adjusted to meet the needs of each individual client. Similarly inpatient treatment often starts at 28 days, but program length is determined by client needs.

Does Pine Tree Recovery accept people of all ages?

We accept adults ages 18 or over. However, our parent company, Guardian Recovery offers a full continuum of adolescent treatment programs

Can I leave the facility once I have enrolled in treatment?

We are not a lockdown facility, but we strongly recommend that clients remain at the facility for the entire duration of their care.

Can I bring my phone or other electronic devices?

We restrict access to laptops, tablets, and phones during detox, but special arrangements are possible for individuals who need to conduct business or important personal matters. For self-employed clients, we offer an executive program that allows device access in certain cases during business hours.

Can my family be involved?

Yes! We understand that addiction affects the entire family system, and we encourage families to participate in their loved one’s treatment.

Is treatment confidential?

Yes! We believe in complete and total confidentiality and privacy for all our clients. We take extra measures to ensure we go above and beyond HIPAA and health privacy standards. If you are concerned about specific privacy requirements, please reach out, and we can answer your questions.

How much does the program cost?

Since each treatment program is customized to the unique needs of each client in our care, no two care plans are alike. As such, costs vary dramatically. However, we accept most major insurance plans, and both mental health and substance use disorder care are typically covered by insurance. To know for sure how much you’ll pay and how much your insurance will cover, reach out now for a free and confidential phone call. Our staff can answer your questions, discuss care options, verify insurance benefits, and discuss alternative payment options if necessary.
