WMTW Portland Maine

WMTW, an ABC-affiliate in Maine, recently heralded the opening of our new addiction treatment and recovery facility in Portland, Maine. Pine Tree Recovery Center has 22 inpatient and detox beds and works with most major insurance carriers with out of network coverage…instead if the part about private insurance on a sliding scale

“Portland, Maine has an incredible recovery network,” Pine Tree Recovery Center director John Buro told WMTW. “There’s a lot of community resources in the area and support for people who need help.”

Pine Tree Recovery Center strives to provide a safe and comfortable entry point of care to stabilize clients through appropriate medication and clinical oversight during medical detox. Such oversight helps to put people on track for a fulfilling journey toward lasting recovery. Addiction treatment plans are individualized to meet the unique needs of people, and the staff offers round-the-clock support to ensure physical dependence is safely eliminated.

With an overwhelming demand for addiction treatment in Portland, Maine and the state facing a limited capacity of detox beds, expanding access to treatment options is an important step in fighting the state’s substance abuse epidemic. According to the National Institutes on Drug Abuse, Maine falls within the top 10 states for number of opioid overdose-related deaths each year, while the state’s Departments of Health and Human Services reports 5% of people older than 12 years of age qualify as having an alcohol use disorder. Several factors lead to substance use and abuse trends in Maine – including low perception of risk, high degree of social use, relative ease in obtaining substances, and the presence of mental health issues.
